Wood Fired , Stoneware & Porcelain Pottery

All pottery in this shop is handmade & high fired in wood kilns, ensuring a durable, unique ware.

The works undergo a week long firing where a volatile atmosphere storms through the kiln, delivering heat & wood ash onto each pot. Flashes, drips & puddles of crystalline structures frozen in time on every piece.

~ Sippers , Cups & Bowls ~ The majority of these selections contain no glaze on the exterior, just a thin glaze on the interior in order to ensure a smooth, functional finished surface. Can safely hold food or liquid. Enjoy your favorite beverage or meal in these handmade, wood fired ceramic pots. Dishwasher & Microwave safe.

~ Bottles & Jugs ~ The majority of these selections contain no glaze at all. Can safely hold liquid. Enjoy displaying or using as a drinking vessel.

Wood firing

An absurd amount of energy goes into firing these kilns. Energy from the….

  1. Potters… Whom work together to fire the kiln, grasping the forces of nature, transforming clay into ceramic. One cup holds the energy of a community of potters. Each individual chopped & prepared wood, going on to stoke the kiln for hours at a time, taking numerous shifts. For up to a week someone is always tending to the fire. Thank you to the wonderful people whom I have gotten to fire with.

  2. Earth… Which gifts the core elements we get to utilize throughout the entire process. From the clay & water to the wood,

fire, & air. An art form dating back thousands of years. A sustainable human practice that we get to pursue today.

A skeleton made from clay and returning to ash one day.”

working with clay at a young age, at this time some loved ones in our life died.

We didn’t know how to deal with it, understand it, dead, they’re gone.

So we turned to clay, creating ceramics to symbolize, contemplate, & work through grief.

We fell in love with the process of transforming the formless into form. We felt some strange wave of solace through molding clay, contemplating the cycle of life.

Knowing we will pass into the earth, seize the day, give thanks for life and create.

Handmade ceramic pottery draws us into a moment of awe, to contemplate the wonder of nature. Glimpsing the hand of creation, we uncover the joyful, subtle movements of the maker. The quality of handmade wares raises our perception of possibility, of human collaboration with the elements. Notice the hands of the potter dancing with the clay. A living creation given space to breath in your own hands.
